Well my companion has 23 years and he is super
awesome!! We are teaching a few families but other than that we are starting from nothing. um well they are A LOT better I never really realized
how much of a creepy feeling that house in Acahualinca had in it. I
learned about a story that happened there and it made a lot of things make sense and I understood why I felt as I did. lol but everythings
good because I'm not there. This house is small we have 3 rooms and a
bathroom so one is the weight room the other is sleeping and studying so
its super awesome... the only problem is that I clean every morning and
night so then its clean and even though I clean it's still dirty for all
the dirt that gets carried in from our shoes. lol so I'm playing mommy a
lot... lol but it's a good habit to be getting into because I'm getting
good at cleaning... lol it's funny to say because before the mission I
was horrible at it!! lol Thats awesome I heard about that book from a
missionary who just got into the mission and I tried to get it from him
but he told me that I couldn't steal it. lol But Im glad everything is
going well with you guys. As far as my area I will explain it a little.
It has a lot of jungle area which is awesome sometimes we get to go
exploring in trees in search for houses... I feel somtimes like the
crocadile hunter! lol We eat a lot of fried things like cheese, rice,
and beans.... lol the same as always but here a little more rice and
beans because they are poor and dont have very much. Its amazing how
humble the people are here. I sometimes am amazed at how they can be so
happy, I was teaching a family and I decided to ask how are you so
happy all the time and the only thing they answered was that God loved
them and that they were going to return together forever as a family.
It left me dumbfounded.. My whole perspective on being happy suddenly
changed, in the midst of not knowing what they will eat from day to day,
and passing afflictions they somehow are able to be happy! I started
to understand and see that being happy is a choice and not a result of
things around us. When we learn to be happy we can then affect our
surroundings and without knowing it we suddenly are bringing that same
light that the scriptures talk about. We are able to shine our light to
the whole world so they can see. It is one of the things I have been
working on this week and it has brought the greatest gift of joy and
happiness to me. I am not effected as much as what others do to make me
happy I am an agent in which acts and isn't acted upon. I have learned
that the freeloving fun loving people are those who seek that spirit and
bring it and share it with others. It is one that opens the hearts and
minds of those we interact with. It gives hope to a sorrowful soul,
gives encouragement to a falling small one walking down the path of Christ. I have learned about becoming an agent that is one that acts
and isnt acted upon. Who makes his life what he wants and doesnt wait
for others to make it. I love this work even more and I now understand
more of what God wants from me. I have found that light to shine and
it's within me and I am able to share it with others so then theirs, which
has gone out or not yet lit, can recieve light!! Love you all and pray
for you always!! I hope that you too can shine your light to all and
bring this same joy to everyone around you!! love you
